Photo Gallery # 1The photos on this page are of a Beauceron, which is a French rare breed dog. His name is Nikiah and he belongs to friends, Geary and Judy Loff, who live on one of South Carolina's coastal sea islands. At the time these pictures were made he was 18 and 19 months old. Beaucerons are bred as herding / guard dogs. They are strong, alert, high energy dogs who require a great deal of exercise each day. Nikiah's owners have been showing him since January 1998. He has earned his CGC ( Canine Good Citizen ) rating and had won French Cotation Three at 18 months and International Champion statues by age 19 months along with a number of Best of Breed and other awards. He is a terrific dog who loves to run on the beach, swim and jump waves in the ocean and play tug of war with anything handy. There are only about 500 of these great dogs in the USA. They are typically Black and tan, but a merle coat is also considered standard in the breed. One distinguishing feature on the Beauceron are the double dew claws on the rear legs. The young ladies in some of the pictures are Kelly and Megan. They and their parents are friends of the Loffs and myself. We all enjoyed romping on the beach with Nikiah at Hunting Island State Park during the Labor Day holiday. Thanks folks for letting me use pictures of you on my page. The girls add fun and joy to the pictures, just as they always do to our visits with each other. More pictures of the beach activities will follow later. COME BACK AGAIN!! The photos on this page were taken with a Nikon Coolpix 900 Digital Camera, which is one of the current line of megapixel cameras currently on the market. The beach scenes were taken Labor Day weekend at South Carolina's Hunting Island State Park and others were made at a dog show at the Ocala Dog Club in Ocala Florida in October.
